Indiana Autism Learn and Collaborate (IALC) Initiative: Educators Edition

About the Program

The Indiana Autism Learn and Collaborate (IALC) Initiative is a 6-week, online professional development program designed to equip Indiana Educators (e.g., general education teachers, special education teachers, paraeducators, school counselors, school social workers, etc.) with real-world strategies to better support Autistic students. Through a mix of self-paced video modules and live weekly virtual meetings, participants gain practical tools, engage in collaborative learning, and foster connections with fellow educators across the state. Topics covered include Understanding Autism, Behavior Challenges, Social Difficulties, Instructional Accommodations and Modifications, Autism and Trauma, and a bonus module on Teacher Wellness and Self-Care.

Why IALC?

  • Real-World Relevance: Educators gain practical strategies they can immediately apply to support Autistic students.

  • Peer Collaboration: Participants build meaningful connections with fellow educators for ongoing support and inspiration.

  • Flexible Learning: The course combines self-paced video modules with dynamic, live weekly virtual meetings.

  • Whether you support one Autistic student or many, in general or special education, IALC offers a supportive and inclusive learning space to grow your skills and confidence.

The meetings were inspiring because we got to hear from other teachers in the field facing the same challenges. It was a nice reminder that we're all doing this together.
